Jasmine
Jasmine Flores is a Bay Area native and has been a lover of dancing since the day they were born! They’re of Nicaraguan and Mexican Heritage, so they grew up with Celia Cruz and Selena blasting through the speakers of every family party. By High School, Jasmine gravitated towards dance as a Kandi Kid Raver: shuffling in Oakland warehouses and jumping on stage to GoGo dance to EDM. As a fan of Afro-Latin music genres and dance styles, Jasmine is absolutely ecstatic to dance in this year’s festival. To honor her family, Jasmine will be dressed as Nicaragua’s national bird, the Turquoise-browed motmot! Jasmine is also an undergraduate student at UC Davis studying Cognitive Science with a minor in Computer Science; After a year of hardcore studying, Jasmine is definitely looking forward to shaking her tail feathers and letting loose in this year’s Carnaval!!

Dancer
Roshanda
Hello, I'm Roshonda AKA Showtime, a seasoned dancer with a passion that ignited at the age of 7 and has been flourishing ever since. My dance journey began by immersing myself in dance videos, recording them from the box, and learning the moves. Over the years, I've been part of step teams, led my dance group, and had the privilege of teaching both children and adults. My dance repertoire extends to performing at events and opening shows for notable artists like Davido, Mr Eazy, Techno, and more. With over three decades of dance experience, I've cultivated a teaching style suitable for all levels, emphasizing strong foundations and a step-by-step approach to building captivating choreography. In 2015, I discovered the captivating world of Afro House and Kuduro, delving deep into Manuel Kanza's unique dance styles. Today, I continue to share my love for dance through group classes, one-on-one lessons both online and in person. Join me on a rhythmic journey where dance becomes not just a skill but a transformative and joyous experience. Warm regards, Showtime

Dancer
Amanda
My name is Amanda and I grew up in Northern California. My interest in dancing started when I was a kid. Friday nights the family would gather and dance to records and the radio; my parents knew how to cha-cha, salsa, and do “the Watusi”. In junior high and high school I participated in drill team and in college I took a ballroom dancing class for a semester. During COVID, my neighbor invited me to join a group of ladies dancing in the park a few times a week. I didn’t realize I needed to dance until I did; I missed it so much! Now, anytime I can join a group of people dancing I sign up which is what led me to sign up for carnival. During the week I focus on work, which is in the finance industry, leaving my weekends for walking around parks, concerts, traveling, reading, and volunteering
